Springbank 15YO OB

46% OB 2017

Campbeltown / Scotland

100% ex-Sherry casks, first fill and refill.

Non-chill-filtered and natural colour.

Nez  : seems to be fresh, balanced, elegant and classy. Notes of caramel made with salted butter, lemon, light and fine balanced peat, raisins, vinegar xeres, boiled barley porridge, sweet pepper, hazelnut paste, walnuts, vanilla ice cream, almond paste, salicornia and seaweed. I think this peat might be more detectable in this bottling than in other expressions of the basic range.
Bouche  : at first acidulous, then bitter, rough and dry. Lemon zest, pepper, dried almonds, oak soot and again this delicate peat smoke.
Finish :  rather long and full, pasty, consistent and sweet. Cocoa hazelnut paste, bitter oranges, smoked wood, paraffin and an ounce of liquorice.
Comments : it’s really an amazing Scotch ! The nose is certainly one of the best I’ve been able to taste so far. In fact I really like the evolution of scents and its complexities. I love how well it is balanced and its richness with a lot of pastry flavors ! The balanced peat is light but I can easily and clearly detect it and I think it is very well integrated. The palate is not easy or particularly sweet but I appreciate it very much ! Wonderfully complex and full of character. I still drink it. This beautiful Springbank 15 is for those who need a rich, tasty and unique experience in single malt, while being relaxed sipping it slowly !

Interesting ! I definitely should have a dram of this one. Or maybe a vertical springbank to compare it at least with the 10.

Hi, my name is Nicolas Läderach, I live in France (Haute- Savoie). I was born in 1986 in Geneva/Switzerland. My love story with whisky started at the age of 27. I just love scotch whisky and I'm really love discovering new profiles/tastes to enjoy and analyse flavours... I think that a whisky journey is a lot of fun and learnings, but mostly lots of fun. Now I want to expand my knowledges and my passion by trying more and more worlwide stuff. To conclude, please don't forget that "Whisky is for drinking " Santé Cheers Slainte Kanpaï ..You can also find me on Instagram @nicowhiskies
