Ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks
Color : orange desert.
Nose : peat ash, raw sugar, characteristics from Sherry casks with dried fruits and dates, salt and pepper.
Palate : big roundness in the mouth, sea salt, heated volcanic stone, some peat in the background, smoked salmon, little bit of lemon. There is an always there clack pepper. The use of Bourbon and Sherry casks can be felt, but more in the background : interesting balance between fresh orchards fruits and dried ones !
Finish : spicy, slightly peppery and salty finish, VERY VERY slow and going down far far away.
Comments : throughout the tasting, the high alcohol level is not felt at all, which is quite pleasing ! With a great roundness, it is very well balanced between all its elements. It feels like a more powerful Talisker 10 years old, one on steroids. It’s also less salty and more peppery.
This is definitely a buy for me ! The price, in Canada, can be a little steep, but if you are a fan of Talisker, it’s kind of a must ! It can be found for the same price in a 1L format in Duty-Free.

About The Author

I never liked vodka&orange or vodka&cranberry while going out in the Montreal Clubs. I was always drinking whisky&ginger ale or whisky&coke. At some point, I just let go of the liquors and started drinking whisky neat... I hated the taste but damn was I a badass in front of my friends ! Eventually, I stopped being a douche and started enjoying finer drams. Today, I’m making it my mission to taste every whisky and to know everything there is to know about spirits, wine and beer !
