Punch, the name that has fight. I have had the pleasure to smoke a few of these cigars and they do not disappointment. This cigar has recently been on the radar for being in the top 25 cigars on Cigar Aficionados list coming in at #12. Friendly and flavourful and an everyday smoke.
This lengthy premium cigar is a four-nation blend made from the finest Cuban-seed tobaccos. Medium to full in flavor, this Honduran brand is crafted in the company’s original Cuban style tradition.
Origin: Honduras
Size: 7.25 x 46
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf/ Ecuador Sumatra
Binder/Filler: Dominican Republic/Honduras/Nicaragua
Appearance:
This tall handsome punch has a smooth looking appearance. A cigar that is well wrapped and has a nice Cuban style look to it. The rich brown color. The simple red and gold band has classy appeal and look to it which i am a fan of and most aficionados would agree. A churchill size worth smoking. It gives off the look of a much more expensive cigar.
Smoking Notes:
A perfect after dinner/ end of the day smoke. The first third is smooth and creamy, almost an almond butter taste to it. Second third comes out a richer, smooth and smoky as it starts. Hints of leather and spice. This is a well made cigar that is a pleasure to smoke, not just after dinner you can smoke this anytime. A good conversation piece. Medium bodied cigar with a bit more full body. Construction is spot on.
Before the light up
This churchill offers a variety of smell to it, hints of molasses, spice, leather, black pepper. The cold draw offers a smooth pull and a woodyness.. This churchill size feels great in the hands after having a nice meal. A flavourul taste.
Draw and Burn
The draw is great on this cigar, the amounts of smoke are quite nice, it is smooth and doesn’t burn to hot. The burn is even and slow, i didn’t have any touch up issues on this size of cigar. The ash holds firm and has a nice grey ash color with big white plumes of clouds.
Beginning
The spicy taste to the wrapper is great, kick back and relax because this cigar gives you that. The flavor is a bit bold and harsh but it doesn’t leave an aftertaste. There are hints of orange peel and cedar, earthyness and leather.
Middle
Bold, maybe a bit to much for some or the in experienced smoker but Punch does pack a Punch. It is straight forward and has notes of sweetness and a woody aroma that lingers in the air.
Final
Punch, it is a treat to smoke, i really enjoyed this cigar not just because of the price point but the quality of it and all the complexity of it. I like the fact that it has a few different blends to it that make it a pleasurable smoke. It is smooth throughout but intensifies near the end. I would recommend trying a few or handing some out to friends. I enjoyed it. A consistant experience. You can’t go wrong with Punch.
