Cohiba Maduro 5 Magicos

The Cuban Maduro wrapper used in this cigar is aged for five years. Outstanding quality and workmanship. One of the finest Cuban cigars. All hand made. This is a medium to full cigar but still having that lighter Cuban feel.

A name that is at the forefront in the cigar industry and especially Cuba.

More allure than hype? We shall see.

The Cuban brand is filled with tobacco that comes from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba which has undergone an extra fermentation process. Cuban Cohiba was established in 1966 as a limited production private brand supplied exclusively to Fidel Castro and high-level officials in the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban government. Often given as  gifts, the Cohiba brand gradually developed a “cult” status. It was first released commercially to the public in 1982 for purchase.

Appearance

This dark maduro wrapper has been aged for 5 years. It is quite a pleasure to hold. It feels firm and well packed. The color is a nice dark chocolate brown and has some reddish hues. The triple cap adorns the top of the cigar.

Smoking Notes

It is complex and cool, with notes of coffee, spice and sweetness. The burn was slow for the size and not to hot. I took my time as I usually do. The aromas are superb.

Before the light up

Holding this beauty in you hands you do feel a little bit of luxury because it is such a well made and hand made cigar and the Cohiba names comes with praise. The smell coming off this is amazing, my better half said on more than one occasion it is the best smelling cigar she has smelled.

Draw and Burn

A very smooth draw draw to start, the pull from this cigar is relatively easily making this smoking experience great. Burn had no issues at all, clean and smooth, white and dark charcoal with nice layers. Coffee and caramel on the cold draw.

Beginning

Starting off with this Cohiba you immediately get the smell of chocolate, cocoa, leather and spice. The aroma is quite intoxicating one of if not the best i have smelled. The first few pulls are very cosistant and lovely.

Middle

Half way through the cigar starts to open up a little more releasing more bean coffee flavor along with notes of caramel while still emitting some some spice but not enough to ruin the experience, it is still a light tasting cigar on the palette. Being a Maduro some might think it is strong, this cigar is not overly strong. It was gifted to me and I know it has a few yrs age on it so therefore the flavor profile is more mellow.

Final

My final thoughts are this cigar was very hard to put down, I really loved the taste and finish, the smell is very unique if you have not had a Cohiba and those who have know the aroma and smell. My scenery for smoking this Cohiba was in Cancun so I really do not have anything negative to say.

I will have another.
