Booker’s 6yo 1 mo Batch #2016-01E
63,85% / 127.2 proof
Virgin American Oak, charred
Color : dark amber.
Nose : white alcohol. Corn, vanilla, cinnamon and honey…alcohol…alcohol…alcohol…you see where this is going !
Palate : wood and charcoal. Hot and sweet, vanilla, honey, nuts, hot chocolate made with 3% fat milk.
Finish : long, hot, never ending…and quite alcoholic !
Comments : I must admit this is another impulsive buy. I saw this Bourbon at a store, never heard of it (at that time), and the SAQ doesn’t have a lot of Bourbons. I just bought it. Back at home, I opened it, poured a large glass, didn’t nose it (that’s my fault), drank it…and ran down the toilet to spit ! Oh boy should have I read the etiquette an nose it before tasting ! DO NOT REPEAT MY EXPERIENCE AT HOME !
No really, this is an excellent whiskey. It’s cask strength, it’s true Bourbon, the flavours are great and everything you would expect from a Bourbon. It’s just not for the faint of heart. With water, the flavours deepens a bit more…but imho it is better neat !

About The Author

I never liked vodka&orange or vodka&cranberry while going out in the Montreal Clubs. I was always drinking whisky&ginger ale or whisky&coke. At some point, I just let go of the liquors and started drinking whisky neat... I hated the taste but damn was I a badass in front of my friends ! Eventually, I stopped being a douche and started enjoying finer drams. Today, I’m making it my mission to taste every whisky and to know everything there is to know about spirits, wine and beer !
