Glenlivet Nàdurra Oloroso batch OL0516
60,4% – Cask Strength
No Age Statement
Aged exclusively in first-fill Sherry casks

Color : amber dress.

Nose : a nice big Sherry bomb ! It smells of candied oranges, marmalade and strawberry jam.

Palate : no subtlety on this side either, but everything is there! A strong spicy attack in liquorice, with an alcoholic power that decapses. There is, however, a rather impressive structure for such a powerful whiskey. Once past the attack in alcohol, one feels the candied oranges, again, with the ripe grapes and a bit of bitterness of dark chocolate.

Finish : the finish is short and aggressive at first, with the taste of licorice remaining in the bottom of the tongue. A slight spice goes down the line for many minutes.

Comments : zero subtlety, but Ô how good. We know very well what to expect, the very characteristic flavors of a Scotch aged in Sherry casks at Cask Strength. No surprises here. However, it is very successful at what it tries to accomplish. Big hands of applause for this bottling.
Adding water, the nose and the finish do not change, but the mouth settles. The alcohol is much less pronounced and an impression of chewing gum starts at the level of the structure.

About The Author

I never liked vodka&orange or vodka&cranberry while going out in the Montreal Clubs. I was always drinking whisky&ginger ale or whisky&coke. At some point, I just let go of the liquors and started drinking whisky neat... I hated the taste but damn was I a badass in front of my friends ! Eventually, I stopped being a douche and started enjoying finer drams. Today, I’m making it my mission to taste every whisky and to know everything there is to know about spirits, wine and beer !
